Stop your own listings from confusing Google

Fix the listings that contradict each other

Most local businesses have a trail of listings they never made: auto-generated directory entries, an old address from three years ago, a landline you dropped. Cleaning them up is unglamorous and it works, because you're removing the contradictions holding your rankings back.

Decide the single source of truth

First, lock down the exact NAP you'll use everywhere, down to the punctuation and the 'St' vs 'Street'. That's your canonical version. Everything else gets corrected to match it. Without this step you'll just create new inconsistencies while fixing old ones.

Hunt down and correct the mismatches

Search your business name and phone number and see what comes up. Claim and correct the listings you can, and kill the duplicates, two entries for the same business split your reviews and confuse Google. This is tedious by hand, which is exactly why most competitors never do it, so doing it is an edge.

One consistent version of your business, everywhere. Every listing you fix is a contradiction removed and a little more trust earned.
